Bumford Heating (2019 – Date) (IT Manager)

Bumford Heating provide a range of domestic plumbing services and online sales.

I am responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all IT functions with a focus on increasing automation via Powershell, EDI and API. I take responsibility for hardware and software procurement and manage necessary licensing. I am the single point of contact for all in-house and third-party technical matters.

I have built, automated and provide ongoing maintenance for the BHL ecommerce website. I have added, priced, allocated images and categorised in excess of 130,000 products in under three months.

Helen of Troy (2018 – 2019) (Systems Engineer)

Helen of Troy manufacture household and beauty products for global consumer and professional markets and is owner of multiple leading brands.

I was responsible for end user IT support and equipment procurement and deployment for the Europe, Middle

East and Africa regions. Additionally, I generated and provided weekly reports for the IT Service Desk. Using Powershell I have scripted most day-to-day tasks and created and pushed out executable files to allow end users to fix common issues without further IT intervention.

I completed a transition to Windows 10 and I streamlined and standardised laptop builds enabling speedier deployment of equipment, improved software compatibility and simplified support.

Pipe Ten Hosting (2018) (Systems Engineer)

Pipe Ten provide web hosting and virtual server solutions for a variety of customers, from enterprise banking through to basic shared hosting and manages both physical servers and virtualised environments.

My responsibilities included management of the data centre hardware, network infrastructure, troubleshooting Linux and Windows operating systems, backup strategy and general server maintenance.

I was mainly focussed on the Windows Server hardware and I have written and implemented Powershell scripts to automate several aspects of the business.

Sopra Banking Software (2016 – 2018) (Managed Services Technical Consultant)

The company provides bespoke software to major banks and building societies and deals with large cash transactions. Security and integrity is of paramount importance.

I was responsible for end-to-end management of customer hardware and software deployments, private network infrastructure, firewall configuration, day-to-day maintenance, upgrades and fault fixes. I encounter Windows Server and VMWare daily.

During my employment I developed and implemented a Break-Glass security system allowing Service Desk to grant standard users access to admin applications in case of emergency without the requirement for full Active Directory access. This was achieved using a combination of technologies including PHP, IIS, Active Directory, Powershell, jQuery and scheduled tasks.

The installation of Sopra’s bespoke software is complex and prone to human error. I have employed Powershell to automate some processes. This has increased accuracy and reduced installation time substantially.
